The County of Ventura is hosting two community meetings to consider options for regulating delivery, dispensing and cultivation of medical marijuana in unincorporated areas.
The county Board of Supervisors in January unanimously voted to block medical marijuana enterprises in unincorporated areas but asked managers to return with a list of people who could recommend thoughtful regulations in place of outright bans.
“The Board of Supervisors is very interested in there being safe access for those in need,” Chris Stephens, director of the Resource Management Agency, said in a news release. “Hearing the community’s perspective on how best to achieve that goal is extremely important. That’s the reason for these meetings and the ones to follow.”
The two meetings will be identical. The first will be 6-8 p.m. May 25 at the Grant R. Brimhall Library community room, 1401 Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. The second meeting will be 6-8 p.m. May 26 at the Ventura County Public Health conference room, 2240 E. Gonzales Road, Suite 200, Oxnard.
